My question is on the so many mutual funds and so many ETFs in the market.

Q1 Are they safe from fraud like that of Bernard Madoff? I personally don't thing that SIPC covers the situation like Bernard Madoff?

Q2. The mutual fund value- does it truly reflect the underlying assets? Or some companies may be initially pumping them up.

Q3. There are companies they offer 100+ mutual funds, are not they manipulating the price of under performing mutual fund with good performing mutual fund? _ any example from history.

Q4. What will happen to VFINX if Vanguard goes bust?
FSMKX – What if Fidelity goes bust?
DODGX – What if Dodge and Cox goes bust?
